Desiree Mashabela

Legal Receptionist

“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and how you do it”

Meet Desiree

When people think “receptionist,” they probably picture someone who just answers phones and schedules appointments. But Desiree? Her story might just surprise you.

As our receptionist, Desiree brings something special to every interaction. Her approach isn’t just about being polite or efficient (though she’s definitely both). It’s about truly listening – really hearing what people need when they’re often going through some of the most challenging moments in their lives. “Being empathetic, listening intently and serving with excellence” – that’s how she describes her client philosophy. When you’re dealing with family law matters, that first voice you hear can set the tone for your entire experience. Desiree gets that.

Her entrepreneurial spirit showed up early – her very first job was starting her own mail delivery business, going door to door throughout her community. Talk about taking initiative! She’s got her high school diploma, spent two and a half years studying BCom Law, and has certifications in data analytics and marketing. But what strikes me most is how she’s channeled all that knowledge into making our team more efficient and cohesive.

Here’s where things get interesting. Sure, Desiree loves the arts – singing, dancing, reading, jewelry making. But she’s also crushing it at chess, spending time at the gun range, and getting genuinely excited about rugby matches. Oh, and cars? This woman can detail a car so well she jokes that she “may even rival most men – seriously.” It’s this blend of interests that makes her so relatable to such a wide range of clients.

Maya Angelou once said, “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and how you do it,” and that quote perfectly captures Desiree’s approach to life. She’s committed to “being the best version of myself” and experiencing life fully – victories and mistakes alike. The goal? When people see her living authentically, they feel freed to do the same in their own lives.

When Desiree gets interested in something, she goes “down the rabbit hole” until she’s mastered it. She approaches learning with the same intensity she brings to serving our clients. The bottom line? Desiree isn’t just answering phones – she’s creating connections and making sure everyone who walks through our doors feels heard and valued.
